Abstract
Dielectric properties, short-term breakdown and long-term failure of nanodielectrics are reviewed in the paper, including: the relationship between dielectric constant and nanofiller loading, dependence of short-term breakdown and long-term failure on the loading and type of nanofiller and the physical characteristics of polymeric matrix. The breakdown performance of nanodielectrics under various applied fields and the effect of nanofiller on the space charge distribution are also commented. The potential applications of nanodielectrics in the electrical and electronic fields as dielectrics are prospected.
