Efficacy of oxycodone-acetaminophen tablet in treating severe back pain in orthopedics

Abstract

Objective: To evaluate therapeutic efficacy of oxycodone-acetaminophen tablet in treating severe back pain in orthopedics. Methods: Patients with severe back pain (n = 68), including osteoporosis (n = 33) and spinal tumor (n = 35), were treated with oral oxycodone-acetaminophen, 1-2 tablets, tid. for 7 days. Visual analogue scales were adopted to observe changes in degrees of pain severity and pain-relief. Results: Satisfactory effects of pain relief were observed in both groups. Moderate and complete pain reliefs were 94.2% and 57.1% in spinal tumor group, and 100% and 66.7% in osteoporosis group 7 days after treatment with oxycodone-acetaminophen tablets. Conclusion: Oxycodone- acetaminophen tablet has satisfactory effect of pain relief in treating severe back pain in orthopedics.
