Abstract

The new expatiation on the bubble breakdown theories of the liquid that resulted from the summarization of the experimental data from the Siberian Research Institute of Energetic in Russia is the basis of this paper in theory. The breakdown experiments of the water switch were performed under the high pulsed power with the duration in 300 ns. Some valuable experimental data about the relations of the electric field intensity and the hold-off time of pressurized water breakdown have been acquired. The conclusions were included that: In the domains of the variational rate of the electric field intensity from 2 to 3 MV/cm, the electric field intensity and the hold-off time of water dielectric breakdown are enhanced under the 300 ns pulsed voltage, when the pressure of water is higher between the electrodes. The shorter the pulsed voltage is, the less the effect of the pressure will be.
