Abstract

The problems caused by reusing insulating oil in power capacitors were analyzed. The insulating films and oils of capacitors before and after operation were tested by using infrared spectrum analysis, GC-MS analysis and dissipation factor measurement. The results show that the dissipation factor of the oil is the main factor that affects the dissipation factor of the whole capacitor and there is few content of antioxidant in the oil of failed capacitors. Moreover, the aging results of oils and model capacitors demonstrate that losing of antioxidant in reusing oil leads to the rapid increase of dissipation factor of the failed capacitors.
