Abstract

This paper presents a comprehensive analysis of the effect of the input filter on the low frequency stability of a Boost PFC converter. Firstly, a glimpse at the effect from the computer simulation is given. And then, based on the fact that the current compensator is designed well and what we considered is the low frequency stability, the simplified model of the system is derived and its approximate solution is calculated by using the harmonic balance (HB) method. Moreover, the stability of the obtained solution is identified via Floquet theory. Finally, the circuit experimental results are given to verify the theoretical analysis. It is found that the input filter can be used to make a favorable effect on the low frequency stability of a Boost PFC converter, i.e., enlarge the stable operation region of a Boost PFC converter. In one word, our work provides a supplementary view for engineers to deal with the interactions between the input filter and the Boost PFC converter.
