Abstract
The distribution and variation of stress triaxiality in crack tip regions of different specimen geometries have been calculated by the finite element method, and then the validity of J-dominance has also been analysed. It is found that the mutual relation between the constraint intensity-stress triaxiality in a crack tip field of real specimens and that of HRR field, is a decisive factor for that whether J-dominance is valid or not.
