Abstract

The experiment was conducted to investigate the influences of the point electrodes with various applied voltages on the flame propagation and combustion characteristics of premixed CH4/Air mixtures. The results show that the flame speed and the pressure peak significantly increased when the voltage was applied to the point electrodes. Compared with those without the applied voltage, the horizontal flame speed increases by 12.6%, 2.3% and 9.7% and the pressure peak time shortens by 5.9, 0.3 and 5.1 ms when the applied voltage is -5 kV, the horizontal flame speed increases by 22.2%, 9.6% and 24.4% and the pressure peak time shorten by 9.9, 3.7 and 11.8 ms when the applied voltage is -10 kV.
