Abstract

We report a new inorganic nanofiller sepiolite (SEP), which is modified by acid and coupling agent KH570. The different content of organically modified sepiolite (OMSEP) fibers are then added into the epoxy resin (EP) matrix. The results reveal the corrosion resistance of EP coating improved significantly with the addition of OMSEP. When containing 3 wt% OMSEP, the EP coating has the best corrosion resistance. The impedance at low frequencies of the 3 wt% OMSEP coating immersed for 72 h is three orders of magnitude higher than the 6-hour EP coating.
