Effect of interface energy on stress field around a spheroidal nano-inclusion embedded in a semi-infinite elastic medium

Research output: Contribution to conferencePaperpeer-review

Abstract

Based on the surface elasticity, we investigate the elastic fields of semi-infinite body containing a nanosized spheroidal inclusion subjected to biaxial tension paralleling to the plane boundary applied at infinity. Using Boussinessq-Sadowsky's potentials and transform relations between special functions, the stress fields of the elastic half-plane are obtained. Numerical results show that the intensity of the influence depends on not only the size and the shape of the inclusion but also the proximity of the inclusion to the edge and the surface stress.
