Abstract

The effects of the respective content of silica aerogel and boron-phenolic resin on the properties of EPDM/NBR (ethylene pro-pylene diene monomer/nitrile-butadiene rubber) flexible insulation material, such as tensile strength, elongation-to-break, mass ablation rate, linear ablation rate and relative density were analyzed and compared. The results show that tensile strength and relative density of insulation material present increasing tendency with the increase of the content of silica aerogel or boron-phenolic resin, but ablation rate indicates decreasing tendency, and elongation-to-break can be up to maximum value when the contents of silica aerogel and boron-phenolic resin respectively reach 20 portions.
