Abstract

Different effects of CO2 and H2O dilution on the laminar burning velocities of CO/H2/air mixtures were investigated using the constant volume combustion bomb and high speed schlieren photograph method. Laminar burning velocities of syngas/air mixture with different equivalence, dilution and CO/H2 ratios were obtained. The different chemical effects of CO2 and H2O dilution on the syngas combustion were analyzed. Results showed that significant differences exist between the dilution effect of CO2 and H2O on syngas combustion. CO2 has a stronger dilution effect on laminar burning velocity compared to that of H2O. The addition of CO2 hinders and H2O promotes the combustion process of syngas.
