Abstract

The China's first ±800 kV/4750 A HVDC converter valve has been successfully developed by CEPRI with independent intellectual property rights, and it has passed type tests. This paper mainly focused on fundamental theories and key technology analysis. From the distinct angles including the working conditions, the electrical topology and the broadband model, this paper has completed the physical deconstruction of the value. Meanwhile, the paper has studied a series of key technologies, such as the transient electromagnetic characteristic analysis, the nonlinear component coordination technology, the reverse recovery process analytical approximation and the dynamic simulation model of thyristors, the seismic design, the converter valve system thermal field analysis, the cooling technology, the adaptive commutation valve triggering monitoring system and other series of key technologies. Besides, from three distinct layers, the key parts, the valve module prototype and the valve tower prototype, the paper has also analyzed the main design principles and technical features for the converter valve prototype.
