Abstract
The working principles of a shunt hybrid power filter consisting of an active power filter and passive filters are introduced. The harmonic current distribution in the harmonic compensation of the shunt hybrid power filters is analyzed. A novel respective harmonic compensation control strategy is introduced to separate the compensation frequency bands of active and passive filters. According to the control requirements, the software method of the control strategy and the hardware implementation of the control circuit are described. A 250 kVA/380 V shunt hybrid power filter equipment consisting of an active power filter and two passive filters connected in parallel is developed for compensating a large power rating rectifier. The simulation and experimental results demonstrate that the control strategy proposed can reduce the power rating of active part effectively for harmonic mitigating of large capacity nonlinear loads with good compensation characteristics.
