Determination of optimum blank in sheet metal forming

Abstract

Optimum blank is necessary to improve product quality and reduce production cost. Several methods to optimize blank shape are presented. Shape error was advanced to optimize the blank getting with geometric mapping method. Numerical and physical simulations on square cup parts were carried out for examples. Results show that parts forming with the optimum blank using this method have no defects and less allowance. It improves quality and reduces cost. It's an effective method to design the optimum blank.
