Detection of Chemical Compounds inside Nano-particles Using Laser Ionization TOFMS with DMA

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingConference contributionpeer-review

Abstract

Laser ionization TOFMS with DMA was developed and applied to detect organic substances in nano-particles. The system was demonstrated to successfully detect the signal in the mass range of 80 to 250 in 50nm and 100nm particles of cigarette fumes. The detection limit of the laser ionization TOFMS is capable of reaching the pptv level (below 10-15g), and this technique has great potential for the analysis of nano-particles. The identification and quantification of the measured signals will accelerate the practical application of this technique.
