Abstract
The design of supports for rapid prototyping (RP) of the stereolithography process can greatly affect the accuracy of RP products. The classification of support area and its related technique based on STL model are studied. Cross-shaped support, single-wall support with vertical plate, inclined plate support, contoured support and free single-wall support etc. are considered and compared with the objective of enhancing the rapid prototyping accuracy by a procedure of the optimization based on research results and support design rules.
