Design of discrete components based power electronic building block

Abstract

This paper presents a design scheme of power electronics building blocks for soft switching power factor correction circuits based on discrete devices. The basic idea in this power module is to integrate all the semiconductor devices and some driving components of the boost zero voltage transition converter into one package formulating. This integration results in a more compact packaging of the boost module with better thermal performance. Full load experiments have been carried out to validate the design and evaluate its performances.
