Abstract
In this paper, an asymmetric double tuning fork viscosity and density sensor was proposed for oil online monitoring, consisting of two different forks. The viscosity and density can be derived by their resonant frequencies in liquid, instead of measuring inaccurate electrical parameters. The tuning forks were designed by simulation, aiming at miniaturization under certain accuracy requirement. The influence of tuning fork's main dimensions on measurement accuracy was studied. It is concluded that the width increase is more beneficial than the increase of length or thickness for density measuring. According to simulation and experimental results from literature, the measuring accuracy was estimated.
