Abstract

A study was conducted on long n-alkane derivative, 1-n-dononacontahectonic acid, C191H383COOH. Extended-chain, once-folded chain and noninteger forms (NIFs) were all found under different conditions of melt crystallization. In addition to these lamellar forms, a new structure was also observed when the acid was crystallized from the melt at a supercooling not exceeding 2°C.
