Abstract

On the basis of CANDLE reactor in Japan and TP-1reactor designed by TerraPower in USA, a conceptual core design of standing wave reactor with radial fuel shuffling scheme was proposed. The core power peaking factor and the maximum burnup of assemblies were reduced by mixed arrangement of high and low enrichment assemblies in the core. Through the radial shuffling scheme, the breading-burnup wave propagation was achieved. In order to utilize the fissile material produced by standing wave reactor, the fuel cladding reprocessing technique was applied, and the sustainable utilization of nuclear fuel was realized.
