Abstract
Engine piston skirt with a mid-convex contour and ellipticity varying cross-sections is difficult to machine. For machining non-circular sections with complex contour, a new scheme is developed that integrates bias-vibration and step motor. A numerical control system can thus be developed on the engine lathe to ease and economize the process of making piston skirts.
