Comparative study on phonatory properties between male and female voice

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

Based on the physiological difference of vocal organs between male and female, the quantitative comparison study on stationary and dynamic phonatory properties of male and female is approached. Many valuable experimental data which include electroglottography, inverse filtering glottography, harmonic-to-noise ratio, fundamental frequency and amplitude perturbation, and glottal vocal efficiency were non-invasively obtained by using the voice measurement instrument developed recently by authors. The experimental results are unanimous with glottal anatomical and vocal physiological explanations. It is of great importance to the research for articulatory phonetics, speech technique and artistic voice.
