Abstract

Since solar photovoltaic (PV) is an intermittent energy source, its power fluctuations must be addressed and mitigated. In this paper, we have analyzed the fluctuation characteristics of PV power using the proposed temporal clustering method. This method involves categorizing the various time zones of PV power fluctuation through clustering techniques and extracting the corresponding weather characteristic curves. Furthermore, we analyzed the approximate weather types for which the ramp rate (RR) is severely exceeded by employing the wavelet fractional solution method to fit the daily power curves. The proposed method offers valuable considerations for designing power ramp rate control (PRRC) strategies tailored to each time zone under different weather conditions.
