Abstract

This paper combines the indexes of EI (External/Internal links), modularity, and ARI (Adjusted Rand Index) to analyze the 'cliques' phenomenon in social networks. Firstly, the relationship between EI index and modularity is explored and ARI index is introduced to measure the overlapping of cliques. Secondly, the characteristics of the clique in employees' Social networks of 4 Chinese small-sized high technology enterprises are researched by using these indexes. The results indicate that the 'Cliques' phenomenon is popular but performs different characters in different networks.
