Clinical application of autologous falciform ligament patch in reinforced pancreaticojejunostomy

Abstract

Objective: To evaluate the preventive effect of autologous falciform ligament patch for pancreatic fistula in reinforced pancreaticojejunostomy. Methods: Between June 2010 and July 2011, autologous falciform ligament patch wrap around reinforced pancreaticojejunostomy was performed on 6 cases of pancreatoduodenectomy with soft pancreas. Postoperative complications and drainage of the abdominal cavity were observed. Results: Operations were performed successfully on all of the 6 cases and no serious complications or pancreatic fistula occurred after operation. Conclusion: Autologous falciform ligament patch is easily obtained in operation, and autologous falciform ligament patch wrap around reinforced pancreaticojejunostomy is a feasible and reliable procedure for preventing pancreatic fistula.
