Abstract

We established the biodegradation dynamic equation of organic matters in the bio-activated carbon bed, which based on the fundamental equation of microorganism proliferation kinetic-Monod equation. Comparing the biodegradation rule of organic matters in bio-activated carbon bed and bio-ceramic filter bed with homologous microbial by nitrogen isotopes analysis, it was showed that the rule of the organic matter degeneration in bio-activated carbon bed conformed with the degeneration dynamics model of high matrix organic matters during the wastewater reclamation process, namely the first order reaction kinetic equation. Then the adsorption performance along the biological activated carbon bed depth was calculated by the equation. The results showed that the adsorption capacity of biological activated carbon for organic matters was gradually enhanced as the weakening of biological function.
