Abstract

Propagation behavior of Bleustein-Gulyaev waves (electro-acoustic waves) in a functionally graded piezoelectric layer/transversely isotropic piezoelectric substrate layered system is taken into account. Influences of graded variation of functionally graded piezoelectric materials (FGPMs) coefficients on dispersion relations of Bleustein-Gulyaev waves are discussed. It is revealed that for a certain range frequency of Bleustein-Gulyaev waves propagating in the FGPM layered system, the mechanical perturbations of the particles are only restricted in the layer and the phase velocity is independent of the electrical boundary conditions at the free surface. Relationship between the frequency and the graded variation of material parameters can provide theoretical basis for the characterization of FGPM graded variation patterns.
