Abstract

Based on the result of the impact-abrasion testing of the new high strength-toughness austenite-bainitic ferrite high carbon low alloy steel, the behavior of austenite under impact-abrasion was discussed. It was found that only a certain amount of austenite with high stability widely dispersed in a high strength-toughness matrix is effective to resist compact-abrasion, while the large amount of coarse austenite with lower mechanical stabiliy existing in the matrix, especially existing as continuous matrix, is extremely harmful to impact-abrasion resistance.
