N2 - Available bandwidth which directly influences the quality of streaming media transmission is an important parameter in streaming media system, but the traditional bandwidth measurement mechanism does not solve the problem of bandwidth prediction. This paper presents a bandwidth measurement and prediction scheme for streaming media transmission. The scheme predicts available bandwidth quickly and accurately by the prediction model which is based on normal distribution, and meanwhile has no influence on the transmission of streaming media.
