Abstract

IEC 60404 just specified the test methods on magnetic properties of single silicon steel sheet, and it was difficult to meet the requirements of the applied magnetic properties of silicon steel sheet for UHV Transformer. Therefore, applied magnetic properties test system for silicon steel sheet based on iron core model was established, and the characteristics included deep magnetic saturation, DC bias tolerance and repetitive excitation were studied by comparing two kinds of silicon steel sheet iron model. The results show that, the no-load current of Sample II iron core model is significantly greater than Sample I during the range of 100%~115% rated voltage, and harmonic current content together with sound level have same regularities. Moreover, the no-load loss of Sample II iron core model is less than the Sample I under same DC bias current especially when higher than 1.0A. In addition, the no-load current and loss of Sample II iron core model have larger fluctuation ranges during repetitive excitation, but smaller no-load loss change rate before and after the repetitive excitation. In the end, eight assessment index on magnetic properties of silicon steel sheet in UHV transformer were proposed, and results show that applied magnetic properties between Sample I and II iron core has obvious differences. The conclusions provide a new idea for the technical personnel to know the application of magnetic properties of silicon steel sheets well.
