Abstract

Since real-time, continuity and synchronization are the key problems in the distributed multimedia communication, more specially, they are concerned with the dismatch of rate between the network transmission and playback as a result of network delay or dither, three strategies were put forward. They are: (1) both the source and destination node obey the time sequence restrain in the process of multimedia communication; (2) the destination node prefetches some multimedia objects; (3) both the source and destination node are set with a boundary buffer. The approach has been verified by application.
