Abstract

Liquid chromatography with the column packed with small particles (sub-2-microm) and high working pressures (over 105 kPa) referred to as ultra performance liquid chromatography (UPLC), is one of the latest advances in the area of the liquid chromatographic separation. Its main advantages include high performance and fast recycling-time. The related principles, advantages and limitations concerning UPLC were discussed in this review, and the applications and the prospects of UPLC in contemporary pharmacokinetics were also introduced.
