Abstract

The development of high power electronics industry needs powerful backing of test. However, the trend towards ever-higher unit ratings has made it almost impossible to test the equipment in the real system directly. So the test equivalence mechanism gets more important. Based on the similarity theory, which reveals the basic laws of the systems similarity, the test equivalence mechanism and equivalence design were studied. The similarity laws and their application in the test study were introduced. The analytic methods using respectively law, dimension and equation were introduced and their applications in the test equivalence study were expounded. Two test cases were discussed in which the same test object adopts different similarity treatments. The equivalence errors were analyzed using similarity distortion concept.
