Abstract

In this paper, the resonance modal analysis (RMA) and modal frequency sensitivity (MFS) are investigated, with a focus on the resonance frequency shifting (RFS). Adjusting the components can shift the natural resonance frequency of the power grid, so as to suppress resonance. RMA can easily identify the resonance location. Based on the analysis of RMA index, a variable-limit genetic algorithm to shift resonance frequency is proposed. The position of the selected components and corresponding capacity is determined via participation factor and modal frequency sensitivity, respectively. Compared with the traditional method, the proposed method has higher iteration accuracy. Validity of the proposed method is verified using IEEE 14-bus test network.
