Abstract
Channel sandstone is dominated reservoir in Fuyu oil layer hosted in Members 3-4, Quantou Formation in the eastern Sanzhao Sag, Songliao Basin, which was characterized by thin beds and rapid facies-changing transversely. In this article, a technique of Generalized S Transform spectral decomposition was briefly introduced, and then applied in recognition of channel sandbodies with the thickness being between 1 and 5 meters. The results showed that a good quality could be obtained for seismic interpretation. Based on the interpretation, the distribution map of channel sandbodies was compiled, which predicted interesting or potential belts in the eastern Sanzhao Sag. Two drilling wells demonstrated the predication being correct, and indicated the technique of Generalized S Transform having a stronger ability in recognizing thinner channel sandbody effectively.
