Application of FPGA in on-line monitoring for switchgears

Abstract

Utilizing the advantages of high reliability, high generality and low price of FPGA, this paper puts forward a design of a kind of system on chip used for on-line monitoring for switchgears. This chip has all the functions of sampling, measuring, alarming and communicating. Linked with a small amount of peripheral devices, it can on-line monitor the temperature, insulation and mechanical characteristics of switchgears. It also can communicate with computers. Compared with the technique based on MCU, this design has advantage in reconfiguration, speed and flexibility.
