Abstract

To activate the effectiveness of the artificial bone in vivo, the 3-D braiding technology is used to fabricate the micro-pipes of the artificial bone. CAD is adopted to design the microstructure of the artificial bone, an absorbable medical suture framework is constructed with 3-D braiding technology to play as the micro-scaffold model of the artificial bone, the collagen type I is spread on the suture surface to control the size of the micro-pipe, and the calcium phosphate cement (CPC) is filled into the braiding to form the artificial bone with micro-holes after itself crystallized. The experimental results indicate that the degradation rate of the suture with collagen type I is higher than the CPC'. This kind of artificial bone possesses favorable connective micro-pipes in the earlier stage, which facilitates bone growth and improves the activation. It is also expected that the bone can be employed to repair large femoral defects due to the enough mechanical strength.
