N2 - This Partial discharge is an important indicator of transformer insulation degradation. In recent years, phased arrays have been proposed to locate partial discharge. To do so, the MUSIC algorithm is commonly used to estimate the Direction of Arrival. But this requires a large amount of computation in practical applications. This paper presents a hybrid genetic-particle swarm optimization algorithm to search the pseudo-spectral function of the MUSIC algorithm for the optimal solution, that is, the estimates of the pitch and azimuth angles of the partial discharge source. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm is more accurate and converges faster than the genetic algorithm and the particle swarm optimization on their own.
