Abstract

A kind of grounding mode of XLPE cable is described and the current flowing in the ground wire is detected. According to the structural parameters, laying environment and working parameters, the components of capacitive current and induced current are calculated in engineering approximation. A proper modification of grounding mode is proposed on the basis of the maximum loading current of cable and the upper limit of induced voltage in its metallic sheel. The effect of modification is also evaluated.
