Analysis model of critical heat flux in rectangular narrow channels

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

A critical heat flux analysis model, of annular flow in rectangular narrow channels, is obtained by taking reference to the predictive analysis model, of critical heat flux of annular flow in round tubes, and suitably considering the special structural features of rectangular narrow channels. This model can be used to predict the critical heat flux value, at the occurrence of boiling of a 2-phase annular flow in rectangular narrow channels, having a gap width of not less than 0.5 mm. Calculation results indicate that the critical heat flux in the channel is noticeably enhanced, in case the width to height ratio of the channel's inlet cross-section is between 25-85.
