Abstract

Short-term reliability evaluation is an effective tool for monitoring, measuring and forecasting short-term risks of power systems. Electricity market-oriented reform, large-scale wind energy conversion system (WECS) switch-in and changes of extreme weather heavily influence the power system reliability level. A comprehensive research on short-term reliability assessment is conducted, including short-term reliability component models, evaluation frame and indices. Short-term power transmission line model, short-term generator model and net load model are discussed in detail. The influence of weather conditions, fuzzy characteristic and transient stability are taken into account in the line model. The character of three types of reliability evaluations and analysis process of short-term reliability evaluation are investigated, and security analysis, prevention of cascading events and designing of special protection schemes are also considered. Indices of short term reliability evaluation are summarized in several perspectives, such as states, impacts and so on. Moreover, several important aspects which need to be further studied and direction in short-time reliability assessment are proposed.
