An approach for measuring and separating error of machine tool based on KGM

Abstract

With the complexity of machining parts and high precision requirements, the precision of machine tools is becoming more and more strict. This paper mainly discusses the error source and compensation of the contour error of NC machine tool. A KGM system is used to measure the machine tool movement, which mainly include a plane grating. A simplified method is presented to separate the contour error which is caused by machine tool manufacture, fabrication and control system. And then we can analyze the main error factors causing the contour error of the machine tool. Finally, the error is compensated and the contour error change is shown visually compared before in the process of machine tool movement.
