Abstract

Control is a key issue for the performance and compensation characteristic of series active power filter (SAPF). Comparing with the conventional harmonics detection based control methods, the DC voltage based control is attractive for its simper implementation at low cost. This paper analyzes the DC voltage based control in detail and discovered a potential fatal problem of this control. Then, an advanced DC voltage based control method is proposed from the viewpoint of active power balance. Simulation and experimental results are presented to verify the validity of the proposed control method and the performance of the SAPF.
