Abstract
The novel technologies for the production of hydrogen from sludge by means of microorganism, hydrothermal gasification, and supercritical water gasification are introduced, and the advantages and shortcomings of each method are analyzed in detail. The advances and the prospects of these methods are also reviewed. It was pointed out that the future direction for the disposal of sludge is that to utilize the disposed as resource and recover it as energy source be realized. At last, the application of the supercritical water gasification process in the production of hydrogen from sludge is mainly reviewed.
