Abstract

This paper presents the design and implementation of a ZigBee-based wireless general-air-conditioner remote controller for smart home. The proposed architecture integrates a wireless module and an electrical parameters measurement module into the remote controller, so that users can monitor and control the air-conditioner wherever they are. A prototype of the remote controller following this proposed architecture has been implemented. The operation of setting parameters for a given brand of the air-conditioner only needs to be implemented at the first time when the remote controller is used. Then the remote controller will automatically set the brand of air-conditioner next time, which is convenient to users. The results of demonstration experiment show that it is easy to control the air-conditioner via this device, which proves to be beneficial to bringing more intelligence to home environment.
