Abstract

In this letter, a waveform-selective antenna is proposed, which consists of a radiating patch antenna and a nonlinear circuit with two rectifier diodes. The waveform of the input signal can determine the operating state of the diodes, consequently, leading to reflecting/receiving signal response of the antenna. To illustrate the working mechanism, an equivalent circuit is established based on the simplified input source and diode resistance. For demonstration, a prototype of the antenna is fabricated. The measured results show that the antenna can work normally under continuous wave (CW) input, regardless of the input power, whose gain and radiation pattern are similar to those of a typical patch antenna. In contrast, the antenna performance will be affected by the input power when the input signal is a pulse wave (PW). At most 65% of PW power can be shielded when the input signal is of high power.
