Abstract

A transition-optimized approach to reactive power and voltage control is presented in this paper. The proposed method is based on statistical variance and can classify the load curve adaptively according to different load profiles and variations. Consequently, a transition-optimized model of the Volt/VAr control is then presented based upon load pattern classification. In the optimization procedure, different transition constraints are included at different load points. Case studies illustrate that the algorithm based on our strategy not only effectively reduces power losses, but also greatly simplifies control operations.
