Abstract

The operating principle of a specially designed composite cavity, single -frequency Cr: LiSAF microlaser is analyzed. On this basis, the experimental result is compared with the theory in detail. While the lenghth of two identically doped and dielectrically coated Cr: LiSAF crystals are respectively 5 0 0μm and 1 0 0 0 μm, the thick of quartz placed between the samples 13 0μm, single longitudinal mode operation with instrument limited linewidth of less than 0.12nm is obtained. The theoritical linewidth is 0. 02nm.
