Abstract

Objective: In order to find the incidence rate of intellectual impairment and risk factor in patients with Parkinson disease (PD). Methods: 36 patients with PD were analyzed by using MMSE; Multiple regression analysis was measured when MMSE scores were used as dependent variance and sex, age, course, age at onset of PD, resting tremor, bradykinesia, rigidity and Hoehn-yahr scores were used as independent variance. Results: The incidence rate of intellectual impairment in patients with PD was 27.78% and MMSE scores of them were lower markedly than that of control group ( P < 0.001). There was a positive relation between the MMSE scores and the educational levels and there was a negative relation between the MMSE scores and age at onset of PD or Hoehn-Yahr scores in patients with PD. Conclusions: Patients with PD have marked intellectual impairment, The educational levels and age at onset of PD and the severity of cases (Hoehn-yahr scores) in patient with PD were risk factors to intellectual impairment.
