Abstract
A core-cladding waveguide structure of the c-axis LiNbO3 single crystal fibers and the a-axis Nd : MgO : LiNbO3 single crystal fibers has been achieved by Mg-ion indiffusion process for the first time at home. The crystal fibers with step and parabolic refractive indices profile cladding have been obtained by selecting suitable diffusion parameters such as diffusion temperature, diffusion time, MgO film thickness and crystal fiber diameter. Transmission modes of the cladded crystal fiber are observed and the transmission of low order modes has been obtained.
